Ohio Fire Safety Coalition Presents Its 1st Annual
Spring Fire Sprinkler Education Conference
On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, the Ohio Fire Safety Coalition (OFSC) presented its 1st annual Spring Fire Sprinkler Education Conference. The event was held at the Hilton in Fairlawn, Ohio.
The agenda included the following:
- “Residential Fire Sprinkler Awareness” – Tom Lea
- Fire Protection Products Tradeshow
- Keynote speaker – Russ Fleming “Key Changes to NFPA 13”
Russ Fleming is Executive Vice President – Engineering for the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA). Russ is a leading international expert in the fire protection and serves on several National and International fire protection association boards.Tom Lia is the Executive Director of the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board. Tom concentrates on fire and building code issues, provides training and educational classes, contractor liaison, and plan review assistance/interpretation assistance to any member of the fire service community or public who requests it, continuing his strong fire service career sprinkler advocacy. At this time, in the Northern Illinois area, 56 communities have zero fire tolerance or “0” square foot ordinances and 36 political entities have NFPA 13D single-family home fire sprinkler ordinances following the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) America Burning and FEMA Firefighter Life Safety Summit recommendations.
The conference was well attended with over 100 people in attendance. This conference will be scheduled annually and will provide key note speakers and industry product education.
