Ohio Fire Safety Coalition Raises $129,000 for Akron Children’s Hospital
The Ohio Fire Safety Coalition (OFSC) presented a $34,000 check to Akron Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 8 as part of Fire Safety Week 2008. This amount combined with the previous three events totals $129,000 raised by the coalition for Akron Children’s Hospital.
Proceeds benefit the Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Center and will specifically support education, prevention and research initiatives as well as patient support programs and the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) Burn Camp. A portion of the funds will also benefit research at the Akron Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.
Funds were raised during the fourth annual Ohio Fire Safety Coalition Burn Invitational golf tournament and auction held at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The four-man scramble was followed by a silent and live auction hosted by local radio personality “Angela” from WKDD 98.1 FM. Matthew R. Kuwatch, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board for the OFSC, chaired the event.
The Ohio Fire Safety Coalition is a non-profit organization created to educate the Ohio public on fire safety and the life-saving value of residential fire sprinkler systems. Its members are comprised of individuals from the fire protection industry and fire service. For more information, log on to www.ohiofsc.org.
